Welcome to the international competition “Salsanamá - One vs One” that I created with the aim of promoting, valorizing, respecting and spreading “Salserity”, that is the free interpretation of a salsa dancer at 360 degrees in his/her improvisation.

This system is valid for all categories (excluding IMPRO SOCIAL COUPLE) and it is valid for both the eliminatory phase and the final.
There’s no more a list of songs.
All songs will be unknown to competitors. Every time a song is extracted, it will no longer be reintroduced into the song urn.
NATURAL REPÊCHAGE: if the odd number of the participants names put in the urn in question leaves a participant without an opponent, the judges will have to draw his/her opponent from the eliminated participants of that same round.
MANDATORY REPÊCHAGE: the judges are obliged, if there is no need for a natural recall, to choose a pair of participants, just discarded from the last round, which with a further challenge will play a place in the final.
In a foreign eliminatory, only the first comer has the right to access directly to the final that will take place in Milan.
RULES OF COMPETITION
1. The challenge takes place with a one VS one way, at improvisation.
2. The title of the track used will be drawn directly at the time of the round
3. The two challengers have 40 seconds each to improvise, twice a round.
4. Contamination from other Caribbean styles is permitted (rumba, afro, pachanga, reggaeton, etc...)
5. Jumps may be made by detaching the two feet from the ground, with the only purpose of correctly interpreting a musical break. A sequence of jumps, performed at a random point, even if technically perfect, will not be valorized by the judges, as the "SALSERITY" is the prerogative of this competition.
6. The selected tracks will belong to various salsa styles.
A line fundamental performed on a timba salsa (for example), or vice versa, will be considered correct. According to one’s own interpretation, one can move from a dance time to another, but always remaining coherent with musicality.
This is to give life to the maximum freedom of improvisation of the competitor.
7. Heels are compulsory for women, except for the category "A Mi Manera"
8. You cannot touch the opponent during the challenge.
9. While the challenger dances, one must remain in his own space.
10. A participant may enroll in several categories, going up the scale of categories. So an amateur can try the Gold category, but a Professional can not decrease to the Amateur category.
DEVELOPEMENT of the CHALLENGE
1) The competitor "A" (the first to be drawn from the urn) will be the first who dances for his first 40 seconds.
2) The competitor "B" (drawn per second) will dance immediately after the sound of the shift change, for 40 seconds.
3) Competitor "A" will respond to competitor "B", dancing for an additional 40 seconds.
4) The competitor “B" will have to do the same thing (this means that he will dance for the last 40 seconds).
The final of the categories Under 17, Amateurs and Gold will take place in this way:
• The two competitors who arrive in the final must have prepared a one-minute song (original, unmodified. The minute can start from any point of the song).
1) The competitor "A" will dance on the minute of the song presented by the competitor "B"
2) The competitor "B" will dance on the minute of the song presented by the competitor "A"
3) the competitor "A" will dance the minute of the song he/she chose
4) the competitor "B" will dance the minute of the song he/she chose
"salserity" will be considered the common key for each participant in order to win this competition.

SUBSCRIBE NOWÁ 2023
This category borns to “defend” couple freestyle, in which we can perceive the best of CONNECTION, FEELING AND COMPLICITY between man and woman, without losing TECHNIQUE, MUSICALITY AND SALSERITY.
GUIDELINE
- The interpretation must be made totally as a couple. You can leave your partner only for turns or transition steps, but you can’t stay separated for more than one musical octave.
- We’re looking for the 70% of partnerwork, that is technical work, in which we can see your ability to lead and follow. The remaining 30% can be made of couple musicality.
- Pasitos and tricks are forbidden.
- Musical accents and breaks must be interpretated as a couple. If interpretated with figures, they will be even more evaluated.
- Gestuality and style will positively condition the vote. A man who leads well, has a good musical interpretation and has style and a good posture will be positively judged.
- For the woman too, if she follows and interpretates music in a good way, it will be appreciated if she puts variations without losing style and Salsa technique.
- Each change of time is permitted, as it has always been in Salsanamà, but the change must be made in a conscious way, with musical coherence.
REGISTRATION:
The partecipant, be a man or a woman, will inscribe INDIVIDUALLY. The organisation will care about taking the inscriptions in order to reach an equal number of men and women.
Incriptions will NECESSARILY close in the morning of Saturday February 4th.
DRAW:
On Saturday, February 4th, H 9.30 PM there will be the draw for qualifications. Competitors will be drawn (always with an equal number of men and women) and put in one of the two turns of qualifications that will take place on Sunday (Sunday, February 5th, h 10 AM - qualif. A / Sunday, February 5th, h 13 AM - qualif. B)
The final step will take place on Sunday, h 6 PM.
Convocations will take place one hour before the beginning of the qualification.
Before the qualification begins, the draw to create couples for the first round will take place.
QUALIFICATION, ROUND AND FINAL
During the first qualification round, depending on the number of inscriptions, couples will challenge, dancing at the same moment (there could be three or more couples at the same time and, if there will be an high number of inscriptions, the stage will be divided. This will be decided right before the beginning of the qualification)
Couples will have one minute to improvise together. Then, the alarm will sound and couples will have to change. It will be the woman who will change the man.
During the first round, judges will vote by SCORE each dancers individually. It Will be task of every comptetitor to dance at his/her best since he/her will be judged individually.
Dancers with the jighest score Will pass to the next round.
During the second round, another draw will be made to create the new couples of the round (you can’t plan who you will dance with! Each partecipant Will have to change a lot of partners and give the best of himself/herself to reach the final!).
At this point two couples will challenge. Each couple will have one minute to dance, for an amount of 4 minutes, as Salsanamà system dictates.
After the two couples danced one minute apiece, they will invert. Teh second man will dance with the first woman (in this way, each woman will have one minute to rest, while the second man will dance 2 minutes consecutively.
From the second round on, the vote will follow the classic Salsanamà system. Men at first and then women will be judged with the classic system by hand. In this way, men and women will alway pass singularly. For every round, a new draw will take place to create new couples and the classic Salsanamà system will be used until the final. A predetermined number of men and women will pass each round, until reaching the final one.
We thus arrive to the final with the two men and women who demonstrated to be versatile and to be able to dance, lead and follow every dancer they met.
The last drow will take place to determine which woman will dance with which man. Teh couples will challenge AS COUPLE until the end, so they won’t invert after the first two minutes.
We chose this system because we believe that a couple (and not single dancers) must win. Moreover, this will create a cooperation between the man and the woman to win the first place.
At the moment of the vote, the first couple will stand on a side and the second couple will stand on the other one : judges will decide which is the winning couple.
CATEGORIE
UNDER 12 WOMEN/MEN
Sono ammessi partecipanti fino ai dodici anni compresi. Se sono nell’anno dei tredici devono passare alla categoria under 14. Per età è intesa anno di nascita, e non compiere gli anni prima o dopo l’edizione della competizione.
UNDER 14 WOMEN/MEN
Sono ammessi partecipanti fino ai quattordici anni compresi. Se sono nell’anno dei quindici devono passare alla categoria under 17. Per età è intesa anno di nascita, e non compiere gli anni prima o dopo l’edizione della competizione.
In base al numero delle iscrizioni, si valuta se dividere nelle due categorie Men e Women
Per le femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo. ( Per tacchi, sono intese, le sarpe a sandalo)
UNDER 17 FIRST TIME WOMEN/MEN
Sono ammessi partecipanti fino ai diciassette anni compresi, che non hanno mai partecipato al Salsanamà. Se sono nell’anno dei diciotto devono passare alla categoria amateur first time. Per età è intesa anno di nascita, e non compiere gli anni prima o dopo l’edizione della competizione.
In base al numero delle iscrizioni, si valuta se dividere nelle due categorie Men e Women.
Per i maschi sono obbligatorie le scarpe da ballo e per femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo.( Per tacchi, sono intese, le scarpe a sandalo)
UNDER 17 WOMEN/MEN
Sono ammessi partecipanti fino ai diciassette anni compresi. Se sono nell’anno dei diciotto devono passare alla categoria amateur. Per età è intesa anno di nascita, e non compiere gli anni prima o dopo l’edizione della competizione.
In base al numero delle iscrizioni, si valuta se dividere nelle due categorie Men e Women.
Non possono partecipare a questa gara i professionisti e i maggiori di 18 anni o chi compie i 18 anni nel 2025
Tutti gli altri concorrenti possono iscriversi a questa categoria.
Per i maschi sono obbligatorie le scarpe da ballo e per femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo. ( Per tacchi, sono intese, le scarpe a sandalo)
AMATEUR FIRST TIME WOMEN/MEN
Categoria dedicata ai concorrenti che affrontano il Salsanamà per la prima volta.
Non possono partecipare a questa categoria i professionisti.
Non possono partecipare concorrenti amateur che hanno già fatto almeno una volta salsanamà.
Non possono partecipare i minori di 18 anni che hanno già fatto almeno una volta salsanamà.
Per i maschi sono obbligatorie le scarpe da ballo e per femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo. ( Per tacchi, sono intese, le scarpe a sandalo)
AMATEUR WOMEN/MEN
Per amateur si intende chi non è ancora professionista del settore, quindi allievi, ballerini debuttanti (che si esibiscono già con le compagnie e/o con i propri maestri), ballerini che non svolgono questo come primo lavoro.
Non sono ammessi Professionisti.
Tutti gli altri concorrenti sono ammessi a questa categoria.
Per i maschi sono obbligatorie le scarpe da ballo e per femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo.( Per tacchi, sono intese, le sarpe a sandalo)
Chi vince questa categoria dovrà, nella successiva edizione, passare alla categoria Gold.
GOLD WOMEN/MEN
È la categoria di più alto livello della competizione.
Possono accedere tutti i concorrenti, professionisti e non.
Per i maschi sono obbligatorie le scarpe da ballo e per femmine sono obbligatori i tacchi da ballo ( Per tacchi, sono intese, le scarpe a sandalo con altezza del tacco di minimo 5cm.)
A MI MANERA UNDER 17
Questa categoria special è dedicata alla libertà totale. I giudici non terranno conto del genere del concorrente, che potrà preferire lo stile che preferisce, pur rimanendo nella "salserità" e nella musicalità.
Si possono usare qualsiasi tipo di calzature. (tacchi, tennis, basse, alte, ecc...).
Non sono ammessi outfit che non siano inerenti al mondo del ballo.
Possono partecipare solo i competitori fino ai 16 anni compresi.
A MI MAÑERA
Questa categoria special è dedicata alla libertà totale. I giudici non terranno conto del genere del concorrente, che potrà preferire lo stile che preferisce, pur rimanendo nella "salserità" e nella musicalità.
Si possono usare qualsiasi tipo di calzature. (tacchi, tennis, basse, alte, ecc...).
Non sono ammessi outfit che non siano inerenti al mondo del ballo.
IMPRO SOCIAL COUPLE AMATEUR
A questa categoria sono ammessi ballerini amateur ( Per amateur si intende chi non è ancora professionista del settore, quindi allievi, ballerini debuttanti (che si esibiscono già con le compagnie e/o con i propri maestri), ballerini che non svolgono questo come primo lavoro ).
Non sono ammessi professionisti

IMPRO SOCIAL COUPLE GOLD
A questa categoria sono ammessi ballerini professionisti ( Per professionista si intende un ballerino che svolge questo come primo lavoro ).
Per vincere la categoria bisognerà ballare con più di una ballerina
L'iscrizione alla gare verrà effettuata in modo singolare e non in coppia
Sia per uomini che per donne è obbligatorio l'utilizzo di scarpe da ballo (Per le donne è obbligatorio l'uso dei tacchi. Per tacchi, sono intese, le sarpe a sandalo con altezza del tacco di minimo 5cm.)

Per PROFESSIONISTA si intende chi vive di ballo come MAESTRO o PERFORMER e chi compete a LIVELLO PRO in gare internazionali. In ogni caso ci riserveremo il diritto di valutare caso per caso.
Il PROFESSIONISTA può accedere solo alle categorie "Gold", "A mi manera" e "Impro Social Couple".

IS THE EVENT SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES?
For sure it is! There are different categories to participate in depending on your age. Your age will not prevent you from participating in this competition!
WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL?
A “Professional”, according to this competition, is a competitor candidate whose main occupation is dance, be him/her a performer (shows, events, etc...) or a Dance Master (teaching, training, etc...).
Professionals have their own category and cannot enter the Amateur category.
No, it’s not necessary, but you can wear it if you want! As this is an improvisation competition, you can dress, get ready and dance as you want!
